We're delighted that you're interested in auditioning for The Appalachian Children's Chorus. We welcome children from all religious, racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds. It is not just for the child who is a gifted singer, but for all children who love to sing! Children do not need previous vocal instruction. That's our job. Many choruses are known for being exclusive, but we at ACC are very inclusive because we believe all children can be taught to sing.
All auditions are held in Keenan Hall at the University of Charleston. Auditions are a friendly and positive experience for every child. They are a way for the director to find out as much as possible about each child's musical potential and which choir best suits him or her. Children do not need to have a piece prepared for audtions. The director will ask children to sing Are You Sleeping Brother John. If the child does not know the song, then the director will teach it to him or her.
Tuition cost is approximately $350.00 to $400.00 per year with costs for the Chamber choir slightly lower. Discounts are granted for families with more than one child in the program. Tuition does not cover uniforms or tour expenses. Throughout the year, choristers are given opportunities to raise funds for their travel expenses.
Please feel free to browse our choir handbook for extensive information about the program.
Financial aid is available to students based on need. If you would like to apply for financial assistance, you must complete a Financial Aid Application.
