We spend two days traveling in villages where the children have the unique opportunity to arrive in the villages they have been assigned by canoe. In each village the kids are taught how to weave, dance, make fire, cook and many of the customs and language of each village. All these skills are then presented in front of the entire festival. I have to say, with what little training they had, they did an incredible job. You would have been proud.
The villages were Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji and Samoa. Today they prepare for their first public performance. The weather has been rainy, typical of summer weather in the islands. We have seen many sea turtles and the kids got to swim and snorkle in the cove yesterday. They saw sea urchins, trigger fish, yellow tang, sea bass, rainbow fish and sea cucumber.
