9/11 Remembrance in Morgantown

On September 11, 2011, ACC  traveled to Morgantown to participate in an event to honor our military and first responders. It was 10 years since the tragic events unfolded on 9/11. ACC took part in the first memorial organized shortly after that fateful day and now can add performing for a 10 year remembrance to their history.

The evening included live performances by the Mountainaires, a four part Barbershop harmony choral group.  A special group known as the Flight 93 chorale was formed in honor of the rememberance and had performed at Shanklin, PA a day prior to this event.

ACC's Concert choir performed special tunes selected for the event including "A Patriotic Salute", "America the Beautiful", "Mountain Lullaby", "Country Roads" and "Unity".

It was a wonderfully moving performance causing several guests in attendance to reach for a tissue or handerchief.   "Some of these children were too young to remember 9/11.  But, those of us who were old enough to remember, will never forget that tragic day," said Selina Midkiff, founding and artistic director the Appalachian Children's Chorus and director of Concert Choir.   "We thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration with the Mountainaires.  They were tremendously supportive of the children and the children had a fabulous time performing with them!"

Money raised by this event benefited the West Virginia Family Grief Center and the Mountainaires.
