Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Concert
Ends: Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 9:00 pm

Capping off the three and a half day Appalachian Festival of Young Voices, this concert brings together all the children who have gathered for this amazing event. Because of the amazing song, music and talent, this FREE concert is not to be missed!
These children began rehearsing this music, with their individual choirs, beginning in January. On the evening of Thursday, May 24th, all the choirs met for the first time to rehearse the music together. Under the amazing and talented direction of Dr. Rollo Dilworth, these children hone their vocal skills and practice singing together as one choir. Dr. Dilworth, a world famous choral conductor, composer and arranger, is sought after wold wide for his natural talent in instructing and evoking the sound required of the children when performing the selected songs.
Dr. Dilworth conducts the first half of the performance when the children will be accompanied by a nine piece orchestra. The second half of the performance embraces Appalachian music and history with traditional music selections. The children will be accompanied by a string band made up of Ron Sowell of Mountain Stage Fame and mandolin virtuoso, Johnny Staats.
This year's concert will take place at the Civic Center Little Theater.
